
The Penang Bird Park is the first and largest bird park in Malaysia. It is established in 1988 and is located just around 7km from Penang Bridge, or on the mainland along the North-South Highways, which is reachable in 10minutes from the Ferry terminals by bus, or 5 minutes drive from the Penang Bridge toll Plaza. Driving along the North-South Highways, and turn off at Seberang Jaya inter-junctions, following the road signs to Butterworth. Or take special bus from shopping mall Komtar direct to Seberang Jaya. Parking is free for all cars and coaches. If you are visiting to Penang, you can drop by before heading to Penang Island (or locally Pulau Pinang).
The Penang Bird Park is a 5-acre land on the mainland portion of Penang State. The landscape park has a collection of more that 300 species of birds from all over the world, of which more than 150 species are of Malaysian Species. There are more than 3,000 birds in this park. They are all carefully and scientifically housed in more than 150 cages for the breeding and conservation purpose.
Visitors can hand-feed hundreds of tamed birds while they are in the Geodesic Domes and 2 giant sized Walk-in-Aviaries, which offers priceless memory and exciting moment. Visitors can find exotic birds ranging from tiny Sunbirds to huge, gigantic 8-foot tall Ostriches frolic in an environment that imitates their natural habitat. People of all ages especially expert ornithologists love Penang Bird Park, which is particularly proud of its hornbills, sunbirds, and pheasants collection.
Penang Bird Park is open daily from 9am to 7pm everyday including weekends and all public holidays. There are also entrance fees for all visitors except for physically and/or mentally handicapped & under privileged persons.
